Sharing Your Story

What you should know before you decide

We are looking for people who want to share their experience — not people who feel obligated to.

Not everyone will want to share, and that is completely fine. We only want to proceed if this feels right for you. This page tells you exactly what would happen with your story if you choose to share it.

Where your story may appear

f you agree to share, your story — or quotes from our conversation — may be used in:

  • Fundraising emails and letters sent to our donors and supporters

  • Our website and social media channels

  • Grant applications and reports to funders

  • Print materials like newsletters or brochures

  • Presentations to community partners or at public events

Some story-sharers want to see the piece before anything is published. If this is you, please let us know and we will share a draft with you so you can review it. You have the final say on whether it goes out.

How sharing your story helps

Stories from people with real experience are the most effective way we have to communicate why our work matters. When donors and funders understand what this organization actually does — in real, human terms — they are more likely to support it.

Your story could:

  • Bring in funding that pays for programs and services

  • Help other people in similar situations know that this organization exists

  • Shift how decision-makers think about the issues affecting your community

  • Show donors that their support makes a real difference for real people
